life...

my football banquet was last night and it was awesome. there were a good 400 people that attended. the coaches gave out awards for certain things rewarding those who did a great job. they only gave these awards to a select few of us. i think there were about eight people that received one. needless to say, i was awarded with the special teams player of the year award. i was given a plaque with my name and stuff engraved on it. i felt really special. as the night went on i was getting bored and was happy that the end was near. coach bendix (the head coach) went up to the front and started the closing thoughts. i wasn’t really paying attention until he said my name. this is what he said.

" before i end tonight, i want to talk about josh garner. he was our unsung hero of the year. we couldn’t have done what we did without him on our team."

he said all of this out of the blue and he only talked about me. to make this even better he said these exact words and i quote,

" josh garner is the reason that we went 9-0."

i was so surprised that he said those words and everyone clapped for me. i don’t want to sound like i am bragging, but i am very excited about it. that was pretty much what went down last night.

on another note, i had an art project that i was supposed to finish by monday morning before school that i hadn’t started yet (keep in mind that this was sunday night after ignite). i wanted to use billy somehow in my picture. i went up to the church around midnight to take a picture of him. yes they were still up there eating jimmy johns. it took me until 4 a.m. to finish, but the point is that it is done. if you don’t understand it, it is about something my dad talked about a couple of weeks ago. it is about the two japanese words tatemae and hin'ne. i wanted to show that there is always two parts of a human being. the part that everyone sees, and the hidden part that no one sees. i think that i did a pretty good job portraying these ideas.

today i went to beth's basketball tryouts and i was offered an assistant coaching job with pete ryan. i am now the proud assistant coach of the second grade girls basketball team. it will be fun.

that has been my life as of late and thanks for reading this because it shows that you care. it means a lot. one more thing is that i have a new e-mail account. it is joshgarne@gmail.com (yes there is no "r" at the end of it because that is how i wanted it. done.

homecoming...

last night was our homecoming game. not only did we beat a team that we haven't beaten since '99, but i made a cool memory. this thursday my grandparents came to watch me play some football. i am the only garner boy that has actually played on varsity. one of my dads dreams was to watch me play football with his dad, and last night he did just that. i am very glad that he was able to do something that he really wanted to do.

------------------------------------------------

on a sad note, biz didn't win homecoming queen. i was really hoping that she would, but she is ok with it. she did look very beautiful in her dress though. now all of you ladies out there, if you really want to impress your man, then follow biz's example. last night, they announced the king and queen at half-time. they all had to dress up so biz was wearing her dress and a little cape. keep in mind that it was freezing and she could have gone home after half-time, but she chose to stay, freeze her butt off, and watch me play until the end. thanks biz for staying because it means a lot.

--------------------------------------------------

thanks for coming billy and troy because you guys are amazing and it means a lot that you came, even though you left after half-time. and thanks to the rest of you for coming, even if you came to see who won king and queen and then left after half-time, it means a lot. and if you didn't come to see me play at all, then you missed out.

flint central.

i had a game on friday at flint central. no one really came and that is why i am going to tell you this.

i was running down the field and i hit this kid really hard, so he grabbed a hold of me and tripped me. he fell underneath me and i still had my footing. he then proceeded to wrap his legs around me and try and hold me there. this obviously is a penalty and a dumb thing to do. i turned around and punched/palmed his face-mask as hard as i could (because i was mad), he let go of me, and i ran to the football. i did not get a penalty for it and i was happy. he didn't mess with me for the rest of the game because i broke his face-mask (my dad told me after the game) ...and yeah, they are made out of metal.-josh

Fort McDoogle.

summer is sadly coming to an end. i had kaleb and kurt spend the night and we thought of the most glorious thing to do...ever.

we decided to build our very own fort. you know, like the ones you and i both did when we were kids! yeah, it was fun. we sat in it. we played video games in it. we ate in it. we looked at it. it was awesome. we even made it so that we had out very own ventalation system, so i guess you can say that we are genious. we thought about making our own sewer system, but it didn
't really work out...now i have a stain on my carpet. oh well. here are some pictures of it, so you can all get really jealous now.

this is kaleb being....well, kaleb.

this is what kurt looks like in his soccer uniform.

this is what i look like trying to be kurt.

kurt wasn't being very nice, so we locked him in our jail.

we played nascar: total team control 2006. it was fun.

you don't want to mess with the law.

this is kurt in action with his friend on his shoulder.

i broke the leg on one of the couches. oops.

this is our look-out hole.

this is kaleb finishing up the fort.

here is fort mcdoogle in all of its glorious wonder.
